This Mum of fours’ VA biz is saving Kiwi business owners, one task at a time

Natalie Tuckwell hit her breaking point while juggling four children and a growing social media business, watching her health deteriorate as she tried to do it all herself.

Her solution- hiring Filipino Virtual Assistant Kim- didn't just save her from burnout but sparked a new business vision.

Now through Heck Yeah Outsourced, she connects overwhelmed Kiwi business owners with dedicated Filipino VAs who understand both technical needs and New Zealand business culture.

Below, Natalie shares her journey from exhausted entrepreneur to creating a company that helps others reclaim their time and rediscover their passion for business.

What’s your biz?

Heck Yeah Outsourced. We connect New Zealand Business owners with their perfect Filipino Virtual Assistant.

Who do you work with? What sets you apart?

We work with women business owners who are parents juggling multiple responsibilities. They've hit a growth ceiling because they're working IN their business rather than ON it. Problems they face are:

- Spending valuable time on admin tasks instead of revenue generating activities
- Overwhelm from balancing business alongside family commitments
- Fear of delegating and losing quality control
- Inability to scale due to time constraints.
- Burnout from trying to do everything themselves.

We provide dedicated VAs who understand both technical requirements and NZ business culture. We handle all recruitment, training and management, making delegation seamless and stress-free.

Our professional matching comes without additional costs, our services are tailored to the specific needs of the business owner, and we prioritise fair treatment for VAs and affordable rates for clients.

I think because I have been in place of burnout town and hired my wonderful VA during that time I learnt first hand the do's and don't so can really support my business owners from a place of understanding.

What sparked the idea behind your business?

A few years ago, life was incredibly hectic. I was raising four kids while trying to launch a social media management business, juggling the never-ending mental load that comes with both (IYKYK, it's no joke 🫠). I loved my work with a passion, but I had always promised myself that my health and family wouldn't suffer because of it.

Then reality hit. My health began deteriorating, sending clear signals that something had to change. I finally admitted what I had been avoiding—I needed help, and that meant trusting someone else with parts of my business.

Looking at my options, I decided to explore offshore hiring. Not just because it fit my online business model, but honestly, because it seemed like the only way I could afford the help I desperately needed. When I posted the job, I was flooded with over 200 applications.

Determined to find the right fit, I developed a thorough system to identify my perfect match.

Enter Kim—a college graduate who wasn't just quick and competent, but a genuinely beautiful person inside and out. I felt immediate relief.

Soon, Kim was handling all those time-consuming tasks that had been draining my energy:

- Managing my inbox and calendar
- Scheduling social posts
- Responding to client messages
- Formatting documents
- Updating spreadsheets
- Researching competitors

and preparing presentations. The hours I used to spend on admin work suddenly became time I could dedicate to strategy and growth.

This wasn't just about solving my overwhelm—it was about creating a solution for other business owners drowning in tasks they shouldn't be doing.

Everyone deserves their own Kim.

Not some random person from Fiverr handling odd jobs, but a valued team member specifically trained in what your business needs. Someone who can take over your CRM management, process orders, organize digital files, transcribe meetings, and create those monthly reports you never have time for. Or tasks that you just hate.

The best part? Both the business owner and offshore team member receive strong NZ-based support, ensuring a smooth and successful partnership from day one.

What does a typical day look like for you as a business owner?

I get the kids to school, go to the gym (it helps my brain get started for the day) then sit in my little home office, chatting to clients and VA's helping with guidance on tasks, training and support. I finish at 3 just in time for my girls to get home from school.

What are some of the key milestones in your business journey so far?

I have had clients recognised for their social media accounts with industry awards. I am most proud that I have used my curiousity to find a need and pivot my business, building again from scratch.

What have been some of the biggest challenges you've faced so far?

Boundaries have been a big thing for me to learn. From a people pleaser and not wanting to let anyone down which led to burn out and my mental health really suffered.

What are you most excited about in your business right now?

I am most excited about the wonderful business owners that I am meeting. Getting insight into what drives them and their goals. I of course love hearing about how much my clients love their VA's. They are building beautiful working relationships with them and the VA's are extremely happy too. It feels wonderful to have a business that is filled with all these great people doing cool stuff.

What’s worked best for you to build brand awareness and get customers?

Social media engagement and networking has been great for me. I don't think you can fake engagement I am genuinely interested in getting to know people and their stories. If I can help them with freebie (here’s mine below!) or a VA them thats a bonus and gives me a massive dopamine hit.

Have boundaries. Your time is worth something. Believe in yourself and don't feel discouraged if you don't get support from your friends or family. I always take advice from people who are where I want to be.
