Welcome to She Owns It (V7.5)

The Evolution of She Owns It: A Labour of Love

Have you ever had a dream, one you just couldnโ€™t shake, but found yourself spinning your wheels when it came to actually making it happen? In the early days of She Owns It I had an idea for a membership that would support Kiwi women in business, a passion to help others, but for a long time - even though we had momentum and hundreds of Members- to me it didnโ€™t truly work.

Speaking at our Launch party back in 2017 โœจ

When I first thought about creating a space for women in business, I envisioned a supportive community- somewhere women could share struggles, swap advice, and cheer each other on. And while that was beautiful (and very needed), over time I realised that something was missing. Connection serves a great purpose. We need empathy fuelled spaces that foster self belief and make people feel valued- even if their business are tiny or not yet โ€˜successful.โ€™

But we also need results. As someone whoโ€™s struggled to take action and stay focused in the past, I know firsthand how easy it is to get stuck, dreaming big but staying in the same place for way too long.

โ€œAs someone whoโ€™s struggled to take action and stay focused in the past, I know first hand how easy it is to get stuck, dreaming big but staying in the same place for way too long.โ€

I experienced this in my first business- struggling to grow and staying with it far longer than it felt exciting or aligned, simply because I didnโ€™t know another way ahead. Plus, I was too embarrassed to ask for help, scared of revealing that what Iโ€™d created wasnโ€™t working very well.

I see this in so many of the women in She Owns It too. Theyโ€™re motivated, they know what they want, but actually making it happen? Thatโ€™s the hard part. And without knowing how to do that, itโ€™s easy to feel like youโ€™re stuck in place, watching time, sales and self belief pass by.

A Personal Journey too

Me, with a smile but actually feeling pretty miserable pregnant with my 3rd during the first Covid lockdown.

Of course, over the past 7 years Iโ€™ve been through a personal journey too.

During that time Iโ€™ve dropped the ball so many times, pivoted, changed focus, questioned myself, my abilities, stopped, started, flip flopped and procrastinated- and often, given myself a pretty tough time about it all.

All the while though, I was also studying.

Not just the โ€˜how toโ€™ of making an online business actually work.

But how to my make LIFE work. How to find myself again. How to build my confidence back and start showing up for myself and my dream again.

And trying to uncover what is this THING that doesnโ€™t feel right to me? Why have I stopped feeling good about inviting people in to my world with She Owns It?

And eventually, I came to thinking, whatโ€™s actually NOT working about this for me?

Because Iโ€™m not just the founder of this space. Iโ€™m also a part of this community. And the struggles I go through are so often representative of what YOU might be going through as well.

And thatโ€™s when I recognised what it was.

Community, being a part of something, opportunities for brand awareness and learning are all amazing.

But the biggest thing that holds me back is my ability to take consistent intentional action to grow my business.

โ€œCommunity, being a part of something, opportunities for brand awareness and learning are all amazing. But the biggest thing that holds me back is my ability to take consistent, intentional action to grow my business.โ€

Iโ€™m talking about those dial moving actions that lead to sales but are sometimes quite HARD to do- so we avoid them:

โžก๏ธ Like sending that email
โžก๏ธ Creating that content
โžก๏ธ Holding that event or following up with a customer

I want momentum. I want energy. I want the results Iโ€™m getting to actually reflect the desire I have to succeed.

NO-ONE is going to create that for me. If I want this, I have to show up differently.

I have to challenge myself, over and over again, to:

โžก๏ธ Remember my value and the value of my offer- and do not let doubt (my own or anyone elseโ€™s) dull my vision
โžก๏ธ Express this value more frequently to my community so I can make more sales
โžก๏ธ Get comfortable with failure and brush off, get curious and TRY AGAIN!

And I realised, this was it.

I wanted She Owns It to be a space where together, we can create those outcomes for each other.

So, with my โ€˜be prepared to failโ€™ hat on, we tried something new- and it worked.

Introducing: The She Owns It Growth Dashboard & ๐Ÿš€ Mission of the Month ๐Ÿš€

As we prepared to relaunch our website, we refined the back end of our Membership to include something new. We added a Growth Dashboard - an all in one platform where you can capture your business development goals in one place. You can reframe your vision, set (more powerful) goals, prioritise them and track your progress.

And because we know goals without action donโ€™t work- we added in a dose of community magic with our new, signature challenge- ๐Ÿš€ Mission of the Month ๐Ÿš€.

With Mission of the Month, every month we invite you to reflect on your (more intentionally, cleverly crafted) goals, and choose just ONE dial moving goal for the month to work on. We share our goals with each other, and with a HEAP of empathy, self reflection, courage and self belief, together we work towards those goals, win, fail, learn and have so much fun together doing it!

And this is what happened:

So, Iโ€™d realised that for me, a powerful membership wasnโ€™t just about fostering a sense of belonging (though thatโ€™s still at the core) and helping people get visible - itโ€™s also about creating a space of momentum that truly helped women move the needle in their businesses.

Itโ€™s about offering the tools, strategies, and accountability to help you take intentional, powerful steps toward a dream that really light you up- and stay the course when things get tough.

Because if thereโ€™s one thing Iโ€™ve learned on this journey- itโ€™s that the MAGIC is in the Messy Middle.

You donโ€™t need to wait 2 years, 1 year, 6 months or even 1 WEEK to start feeling more in control of your business results.

You can do that today through the actions you take.

And THATโ€™S the huge shift Iโ€™ve made that I want to help you make too. And look, it doesnโ€™t happen overnight. YOU WILL FAIL.

And thatโ€™s why ๐Ÿš€ Mission of the Month ๐Ÿš€ is so powerful. Because every month we get to:

โžก๏ธ Create space to decide what result we actually want
โžก๏ธ Start over with a new dial moving, intentional mission
โžก๏ธ Win or fail- either way we get to reflect, learn and grow with support from others levelling up too

and get out of our own heads!

What She Owns It Looks Like Today

Today, She Owns It has grown into something Iโ€™m so proud of. Weโ€™re not just a membershipโ€”weโ€™re a movement of women taking action, creating momentum, and building businesses that actually feel good to run. Hereโ€™s what that looks like:

  • Accountability & Action: Our Virtual Co-working Sessions, ๐Ÿš€ Mission of the Month ๐Ÿš€ and mentoring are designed to keep you moving, even when things feel tough.

  • Community & Connection: Yes, community is still at the heart of what we do. Daily connection and momentum through our groups, Virtual Co-Working, Meetups are all still on the agenda and you get a SOI Support Squad when you enter Mission of the Month ๐Ÿ’•

  • Brand Awareness: If youโ€™re all about getting visible and making sales, weโ€™re here to help you get in front of an engaged new and fast growing audience. Our Directory, weekly Marketday and Facebook Groups are the places to get seen, get noticed and build brand awareness for your business.

Personally, Iโ€™ve let go of the pressure to host networking events (other than Member Meetups) for now. One of the core ideas behind She Owns It was that not everyone can make it to those, WANTS to go to them or is in the right area. With the online space as it is, it presents a DAILY opportunity to connect and build brand awareness- THATโ€™S why my focus is on helping you tap into.

For bigger events, I think itโ€™d be really fun for us to start partnering with networking event businesses to host groups of SOI women. Maybe even sponsor them or promote their events to our community in exchange for a small discount for SOI women to attend.

There are SO many great ways we can work together- and we need to.

Thatโ€™s what She Owns It is all about now. If youโ€™ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of the next step, this community is for you.
