Why Tiffany says you need to own your list - and how she can help you do it!
In a world of AI and information overload on social media, Tiffany works to help businesses stand out. Email lists are an asset for your business (unlike social media, which you don’t own) so making it work for you can help you achieve your sales and engagement goals.
Tiffany loves supporting women in biz with their email strategies so they can get results - read more about how her work can support your business.
What’s your biz?
I'm an email marketing specialist who helps coaches and service providers with email marketing sequences and email strategies.
No, not the kind that is on Fivver offering you the world for $5/hr! I'm talking emails sent automatically when your subscribers join your list or take action.
As a mum of two boys and service provider I get it - you don't have oodles of time. So I help you work smarter not harder with emails that build trust, connection and help your subscribers take the next step with you.
Who do you work with?
Health coaches, Registered Dietitians, Business Coaches, and professional service providers (Accountants, Business advisors, Financial services and marketing agency directors).
What sparked the idea behind your business?
To be honest, the world loves social but you're constantly competing for attention.
Emails especially email sequences help you stay visible, send timely updates and grow your business without being online all the time. Yet, when I was working in house and speaking with others they didn't see that email was a missing puzzle piece.
When I was made redundant (funding cuts and Covid) I decided employment wasn't as stable as I thought and it didn't allow me to be as present for my kids when they were sick (which feels like a lot). So rather than joining the many marketers searching for a unicorn job I decided to help small business owners with email marketing as there are many VA's but less email marketing specialists here in NZ.
I can do the more advanced stuff like segmentation, email authentication, strategy etc.
What does a typical day look like for you as a business owner?
Juggling marketing (which I love as I've been doing a decade) and 1:1 client work.
Book ended with the school drop off and pickup and all the fun that brings!
Balance is more of a goal than something I've achieved. There's compromise but generally speaking I work hard during the day so I can be present for my kids after school and when they need me.
What are some of the key milestones in your business journey so far?
I love it when I get testimonials or Google reviews. Like Kathy - "Working with Tiffany has solved a problem for me that I have sat on for about three years. I wanted to generate welcome emails and always found it was in my too hard basket so I asked Tiffany to help me create these. She was able to create a welcome sequence that sounds just like I wrote it. Thanks for your wonderful support with this project."
Another win: I helped my author client double their open and click through rate on their emails and increase their monthly book downloads with a welcome sequence and segmentation strategy.
I'm also proud of myself for getting out of my comfort zone and hosting a webinar with Mailchimp and speaking at networking events despite being a big introvert.
What have been some of the biggest challenges you've faced so far?
Burnout. This past year has been tough and I'm finding how my business fits in a world with AI. My expertise goes beyond the basic stuff that AI can do but with limited budgets they're not seeing it as a priority or don't know I can offer it.
What are your future goals in your business?
I don't want a team but I would like to outsource my social media. I want to spend more time on email marketing and less on the busy work.
What’s worked best for you to build brand awareness and get customers?
Not any one thing, referrals, emails, social media, networking would be the top ones.
What is one of the important lessons you've learnt as a business owner? What advice would you share to someone starting out?
I can't do it all. I overestimate the time I have as a business owner and need to build my business to have more space (using email of course but also other strategic shifts and systems).
How does being a part of She Owns It help you in your business journey?
Meeting other women and mums in the same boat has helped hugely especially having virtual coffee chats.
⚡️ FAST 5:
1. One thing you’d tell your younger self starting out?
Don't be rushed!
2. Your favourite biz or personal development books or podcasts?
Copy Posse
3. How many tabs do you have open right now?
Waaay to many across 3 different browsers. Maybe 70... 😅
4. What's your go-to power song?
Unstoppable by Sia
5. A quote you love and why?
I can do anything but I can't do everything. Because I overestimate the time in the day and it's true.
