Business: Beautiful Business - www.beautifulbusinessnz.com Tell us about your business. What is the problem that you solve and how do you solve it? Having a great idea for a new business is a wonderful feeling, but soon turns to frustration and overwhelm if you are not making progress towards your business goals. As an accountant, I have come across so many business women who either want to launch (and have absolutely no idea how to do it, or what to do first), or have started but have ended up chasing their tail and not making any real progress. I work with business women who are tired of not gaining traction and together we create a road-map to achieve their business goals. Using my accounting and taxation expertise I cover more bases than just creation of a business plan - I also focus on setting up their systems, budgeting adequately for cash flow fluctuations and tax planning. I become a member of their support crew - providing no-nonsense advice and guidance, but I'm also a sounding board for their ideas and keep them accountable! Why did you start your business journey? During the GFC business owners really started to take notice that unless they had a plan they had less chance of surviving economic uncertainty. So part of my business model began getting owners on track to plan ahead, and to help them through both good and bad times in their business. I also saw a huge shift in female entrepreneurs living their business dreams and wanting to outshine the competition - so I wanted to use my skills to help them do this - I love adding value and seeing someone do something truly amazing! What has been your most effective way to get new customers for your business? By adding value and providing exceptional customer service to my clients - this rolls back around as I am referred to their contacts, colleagues, friends and family! Referrals are a huge part to my business, and I find the clients that are referred are dream clients, so definitely beats spending a fortune on marketing! Which pieces of content are you most proud of, or would you want someone who’s new to your brand to check out first, and why? I have created two online courses to help people learn at their own pace: http://beautiful-business.teachable.com/p/5-step-biz-kick-start https://www.shewhoplanswins.com/ These courses cover things to consider BEFORE you launch into a new business idea, and also guides the planning process. Tell us about your business low point. How did you empower yourself to push through it? I'm an introvert at heart, and I struggle with overload! I get overwhelmed with marketing (another reason I love referrals!!!!) and social media - it makes me doubt myself... To overcome this I go back over posts I've made to inspire other people - I'm always giving out inspiration and motivation to others - so I use this to motivate myself and push through self-doubt! Share with us the BEST bit about your business journey so far. Something that you celebrate! Being nominated as a finalist for the 2010 'Her Business' Businesswoman of the year (and most sustainable business award) for my work in my previous accounting practice - what an amazing honour! What is your ultimate dream for your business? I want to see business women thrive and I'd love to have helped hundreds of happy clients launch, grow and improve their business! My ultimate dream is being able to witness other people run their dream businesses & experience their own business success!
