Want to grow your business using Instagram? This month our Members share their secrets to growing their audiences on Instagram and getting great engagement. In the Members Club we had Pippa Lynch from Shout and Co walk us step by step through setting up a great Instagram account, what to post, where to post it and when. The members loved it and the feedback was amazing- thank you Pippa for sharing so many gems! Our Members also jumped on board and shared some of their experiences and tips growing their own businesses using Instagram and we're sharing them today with you! Debra Hill @debrahill_lifestringsI love Instagram because it's where my clients are. I can meet new people and build offline relationships, and the words and picture format is something I love to use. My best tips? Post consistently, give value and be you. Social media is a window into someone’s personal life. At it's core, the intention was it to be a very intimate, very direct connection to another human being. Many people today treat platforms such as IG as a billboard for their life. In relation to my business, I don't see it that way. It's not about me ... it's about them. For me, all my social media actions for my business (including blogs, vlogs, podcasts etc) are based on the premise of knowing what your audience is struggling with, what they want to learn more of and what they really need ... then providing content to address that pain point. I focus 90% of my effort on providing value, and 10% of my effort asking for something in return.
That's my goal. I'm not looking for oodles of vanity followers, I want engaged followers. People who want the solutions I can provide. I realise this approach will repel the vanity metric social media bods ... and that suits me just fine. I notice a sea change out there, there's a more informed audience who are looking for something more than hype and the big brands are taking notice. Emma Jane John @SisterhoodofStyleInstagram has been my go to since day one (3 years today!). It’s helped my business because I can share quick visual stories, tips, tricks, testimonials and recommendations very easily and visually. Using videos has helped too. My best strategy was to jump on using stories as soon as they came out. It gives people a chance to get to know me better and what my brand stands for. It helps build trust. I love it for its ease of use and the cool features you can use. Insta is my jam! Slow slow organic growth has seen me nearly reach 2000 followers who are engaged and enthusiastic in comments and DMs. Stephanie Marsters @Isla MareeI love the networking aspect of Insta and how it has brought me so much closer to my customers. When they come in to store they already feel like they know me from watching my stories. I love it when they ask about the kids or mention something they have seen, it makes business so much more personal. :)
