How to make More Sales This Christmas By Preparing In November

I don’t want to alarm anyone, but we are officially in Christmas countdown mode.

So of course we are going to talk about how to increase your small business Christmas sales!

If you have a small business, you will currently be in one of two places.

You are ready to go and super excited to make more sales this holiday season.

OR

You are biting your nails and wondering how the heck other small businesses make so many sales!

The good news is, there is still time to get ready.

November is the perfect time to warm your audience up to your products. People are looking for ideas, and you are here to help!

Here are a few things you can do in the next couple of weeks to make more sales this Christmas.
Plan Your Creative Marketing Ahead Of Time

Save yourself some holiday-season stress and plan out your marketing now.

Marketing online will obviously be your number one tool for making more Christmas sales. The more prepared you are the better!

Some things that you should be planning out now could be:
  • Dates that people need to order by to get it in time for Christmas (make this into a social media graphic and pin it to your Facebook page, website, and email footer)
  • What deals and discounts you are going to run and when. The trick is to use scarcity (E.g Tell your audience you will be running a limited time offer, or that only the first 10 people will get the deal)
  • Your visual marketing assets. How are you going to stop the scroll with your product photography? What video will you use to capture peoples’ attention?
  • Shareable content- quotes, Christmas memes, and giveaways are great ways to get your existing followers to share your content and get more visibility online
Give Your Email List Some Serious Love

Social media gives you an easy touch point with customers.

However, email marketing is still one of the highest converting forms of marketing.

Even if you have a small list, feed them super helpful content (such a gift guides, special discounts) so that they are warmed up for your sales content.

Come up with some ideas to build your email list now! Give people a significant incentive to be part of your tribe so you can start feeding them valuable content.
Give People Gift Ideas

See if this conversation sounds familiar:

“What are you getting cousin Alice for Christmas?”
“I have no idea! She is so hard to buy for! Isn’t she super into zero waste living?”
“Oh yeah! What do you get for someone like that????”

This is where your business comes in!

Imagine someone looking through your website and then they stumble on a blog post called “10 Christmas Gift Ideas For The Eco-Friendly Person In Your Life”, or  “What To Buy The Person Who Hates Stuff This Christmas”.

Write up the ultimate gift guide for your target market, and then share it EVERYWHERE.

Send it to your email list, do a few trial runs with Facebook ads, let your followers know about it on social media.

Increasing sales isn’t always just about sales copy.

You can increase your Christmas sales simply by getting relevant content in front of people.

Use Story Telling In Your Marketing

I’m not gonna lie to you, there is a lot of competition when it comes to Christmas sales.

It is not enough to tell people to buy from you. It’s not enough to tell people to “shop local”.

You need to give them a good reason!

Why should customers choose YOU? What reaction do people have when they open YOUR products on Christmas Day?

You need to capture their hearts to convince them to choose you over the convenience of bigger businesses.

One way of doing this is showing people behind the scenes content from your business. In our recent Facebook Community Boost event, one of the things our speakers talked about was the importance of storytelling.
  • Why did you start your business?
  • Do you source your products from somewhere special?
  • Do you support a charity?
  • Do you put a lot of love and attention into packaging each product?
  • Is everything handmade?
  • Do you throw in little extra freebies?

These are just a few ideas you could start using to show your audience why your business is so special!
