Do you feel like you're chasing your tail with your marketing? Coming up with new ideas, writing content, creating freebies, posting on your blog and social media- and seeing NO results? Here's how I found my way past that to grow my 6 figure biz working part time!
For a long time in my first business we threw mud against the wall trying to market our business with no consistent strategy. We'd try this, try that, throw a little bit of money here and there. And we'd constantly be met with crickets and never as many clients as we wanted!
When I started She Owns It I knew I needed to take a better approach.
So I found out everything I could about the latest online marketing techniques and what was working for people. I began to understand how powerful my email list could be. And today I'm going to share my three top strategies with you so you can be inspired and try them out as well!
But before we get started- let's talk mindset.
If you're on a bootstring budget and DIY'ing your biz it can be really hard. Especially when you see so many success stories online and people telling others- you need to get the professionals to do it for you.
What if you have a powerful dream but you simply don't have the money to outsource, pay for advertising, invest in your business?
I want to say right here and now- if this sounds like you- THAT'S OK.
- You don't HAVE to be spending money on Facebook Ads right now
- You don't HAVE to have thousands of followers on social media
And you certainly don't have to pay thousands or even hundreds of dollars to get someone to do your social media, blog, email or marketing for you. If you've got a growth mindset and a great strategy, you CAN figure this out yourself. So let's get to it!
IT STARTS AND ENDS WITH ONE THING- A SUPER SIMPLE STRATEGY THAT YOU REPEAT TIME AND TIME AGAIN.
We've all had the feeling of frantically creating content not really knowing if it's going to have an impact. The 'experts' tell us we need multiple 'funnels', freebies, competitions, giveaways, challenges- it's overwhelming!
What YOU need is a simple strategy that guides your customer from newby to your brand, to fan, to customer- to raving fan and beyond. And this CAN be done without spending a lot of money or ridiculous amounts of time creating free content that leads nowhere.
Here's what I mean.
For She Owns It, I have a really simple organic funnel. What that means in laywomen's terms is how I guide my customers from first finding out about She Owns It to a sale- without marketing spend. My organic funnel is totally dependant on my website, my blog, my email list and my social media presence.
Guess what? You're probably in my funnel right now! Let's walk you step by step through how it works.
It all starts here! This is where I tell you about the Members Club, how it can help you grow your business and invite you to join us as a Member.
It's also a space where I help people get to know, like and trust me, and try to share useful information that I know is relevant- not for every single NZ woman in business- but for those of you who might get a lot out of Membership with us.
I track my website results weekly using Google Anaytics. By doing that I can see over time how many people visit my site, how many people visit my sales page, and how many people convert to customers. I can literally see week by week the power of my content- if I release great information to the world, lot's of people visit my site, and we get more Members signing up to join us. Simple!
Get it?! The super simple strategy starts here: Website > Purchase
In case you haven't noticed, my BLOG is where I share a lot of that information! To create my blog content, I work backwards.
I know the hot topics that our Members are talking about right now and the problems they're facing. We create content and host online workshops that help them solve those problems. And here on the blog, I share some (not all) of those tips with you.
For example, this very email. This month in the Members Club we've released a simple, step by step planner that guides our Members through creating emails that convert customers to buyers. It's written specifically for women who've struggled with this in the past and just can't find their feet to get consistent.
It takes you through the exact process I use weekly to record my results and create my content. And in this blog post, I'm sharing some of the strategies I share, but not everything.
My aim is to make sure this blog is still really useful to you, but also educate you about my product and how much more you will get if you dived in and joined us.

See what I did there? Wink wink 😉
2. Email List
Hang on Rach- when are you actually going to start talking about your email list?! LOL!! Never one to hurry on these things, I want to make sure you totally, 100% get that emails will only work if they fit in with your bigger picture. So thanks for waiting- here's the list lowdown!...
I love my list! I love it because I know it's packed full of women who have actually been happy to hand over their email address to hear more from me. They've indicated an interest in me, my products and how I can help. Which means when they sign up, they're hot prospects.
So, as much as I'm able (taking into account that I'm a pregnant mum of two!) every week I send my email list a love letter. I'll admit I do like to mix it up- sometimes I share freebies, sometimes I tell everyone about an event we've got coming up, sometimes I run an offer or giveaway. But a lot of the time, my goal for my email is to send people to my website so they check out more content and make that decision to buy.
Get it?! Email List > Blog Content > Website > Purchase
The best bit? The success that I've seen from this strategy gives me one beautiful gift:
An understanding of how social media actually works for my business.
3. Social Media
Let's do it. Let's go there. We all know- it's the ONE place we spend way too much time. All of sudden, we look at our clock and realise we've spent an HOUR creating a post that we don't even know if people are going to like- let alone if it's going to send us a customer our way!!
By focussing instead on my email list, my blog, my website and the actual content I provide for my Members, it takes the pressure off me to SELL SELL SELL on social media. Instead, I participate as a member of my community. I give people free tools like our free Facebook Group for NZ women in business. I shout out about other people, share my journey and have a bit of fun.
And as I go I invite people to join my email list if they want more.
Get it?! Social Media > Email List > Blog Content > Website > Purchase
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you'll notice! Every time I create content on social media, I ask myself- what is the purpose of this content? Sometimes it's for fun. Sometimes it's to community build or build trust with my audience. But often I'll pop up a reminder to join us on the email list, or visit our blog to see our latest content.
It really simplifies social media for me and gives me focus.
And that is what I truly 100% hope that this post has done that for you in some way, shape or form!!
I know how hard business can be.
I know how isolating it can feel to try to do all of this stuff alone.
It's why I started She Owns It, it's why I keep going every single day.
I believe in you. I believe that with the right resources, mindset and support you have it in you to grow a thriving, profitable business you love.
And if you'd like more of my support along the way, I'd like to invite you to me and over 700 other Kiwi women in the Members Club.
We'd love to share this journey with you and help you along your way!
