How I Built My Dream 6-Figure Business Only Working 20 Hours Per Week

Rachel Lewis Founder Of She Owns It
Hey, I know you.

You are desperate to get your business off the ground and hit that 6-figure year.

You have this fire in you.

But it is taking SO long. Every other business woman seems to be doing it so quickly.

No matter how hard you try, you can’t get consistent sales and you aren’t making any more money than you did in your “regular” job.

I know because you are exactly where I was a few years ago.
Before I started She Owns It, I was stuck in a business that wasn’t making any money.

We stuck with it for years because we couldn’t bear the thought of giving up.

But we were broke.

It took us years to pull up our socks, get strategic, and start making REAL money.

It took us years to build it to the 7-figure business it is today.

But the strategies I’m about to show you?

They are the lessons I learnt along the way which helped me build my dream 6-figure business in LESS than a year working ONLY 20 hours per week.
6-Figure Strategy #1- I started with my dream destination
You need to start with your dream. Always.

If you don’t know where you are going, you can’t make a plan to get there.

If you don’t have a plan, you can’t create action steps.

If you don’t take deliberate action, you will stay where you are for a very long time!

In my dream business, I was only working a couple of days per week. I spent oodles of time with my two kids. I had a biz that made a difference in the lives of women.

My plan got more specific as time went on. She Owns It has grown into something even more beautiful and powerful than I first imagined. But my dreams and values lead the way at all times.

Action steps for arriving at your Dream Destination:
  • Download the FREE Biz Road Map I designed especially for women starting in business (or struggling to scale to six-figures)
  • Start dreaming- get as big and specific as you want! Don’t edit yourself in the dreaming process. There might be things that your heart wants that you haven’t heard through the noise yet
  • Write it all down or post it on a vision board. Keep your dreams and values at the centre of your business
6-Figure Strategy #2- I got clear on who I was serving
She Owns It Community Facebook Boost Seminar
Every coach tells you to “niche” down.

And you should!

But more than that, you need to get very clear on who you are SERVING.

The reason I am so passionate about what I do is because I know that I am making a difference in the lives of New Zealand business women.

The knowledge and skills I have help women like you live their dream life.

So, when I was designing my business, I got specific on
  • WHO I was serving
  • What PROBLEM I was solving

I don’t just work with women who own their own business. I would be trying to market to hundreds of thousands of women around the world!

I work alongside women in New Zealand who feel overwhelmed by all of the should-do’s and have-to’s of starting a small business. My community serves women who want to network, implement easy to follow growth strategies, and don’t have time or money to waste.

If you are clear on who you are serving, you can get clear on HOW to serve them.

I didn’t just create a group coaching offer and hope that people would sign up.

I took the time to gather information. I ASKED business women what they wanted. I created an offer using the words they used to describe their struggles.

She Owns It was designed to serve the women in my community- not just my business goals!
6-Figure Strategy #3- I created a super simple customer journey

I knew that if I wanted to scale FAST, I had to keep it SIMPLE.

Let me know if this has ever happened to you.

You are looking for a service online.

You do a quick search on Facebook, and find someone who might be a good fit.

They have some of their info on their profile, but you have to Google them to find their website.

You land on their homepage, but you have to scroll all the way to the bottom to get their contact details.

You know what service you want, but they have about 10 different things to choose from on their services page so you’re now unsure.

You’re ready to book in, but you have to email them like 10 times before you both settle on a time that you’re both free.

Did this make you uncomfortable just reading this?

Because that’s what happens if you don’t simplify your customer journey.

More often than not, you will lose people as soon as they are unsure
  • What you do
  • If you can help them
  • If it is going to be too hard

If you want to scale and make more income than your regular job online, you need to come up with a straightforward customer experience.

The action steps I took for a simple, 6-figure customer journey:
  • Created ONE offer after researching my target market and asking them exactly what they wanted (instead of trying to do a million things and HOPING that someone would buy it)
  • Built an email list of dedicated followers that fit my niche
  • Designed a HIGH-VALUE offer that served my audience and told them in advance that it was coming
  • Launched imperfectly with one goal: helping women. Instead of taking years like my first business, I made $10k in one day with a community of women who ALREADY wanted in
  • Kept going! I consistently give value and heart and support which attracts people to my funnel
6-Figure Strategy #4- I focused on the things that make money

You know what I mean when I say “all the things”.

“All the things” that you need to do to run a successful business.

But doing “all the things” is not the way to scale to six-figures.

That’s how you get stuck.

Instead of doing everything, you need to do a few, very important, money-building “things”.

To build the business of my dreams, I focused on the things that would actually bring in money.

That means that instead of focusing on:
  • Building the perfect website and funnel
  • Perfecting my Instagram feed
  • Coming up with new biz ideas every week because one thing isn’t working
  • Pretending that I brush my hair and put on makeup everyday (lol)

I started
  • Asking my audience what I wanted and gave value consistently
  • Building my email list for effective launches
  • Doing the things I knew worked for my niche (e.g. Facebook lives, engagement)
  • Setting my goals for the next 90 days and then working backwards to create specific action steps (for example, if I wanted to make $10k, how many memberships would I need to sell, and how would I market that membership)
  • Outsourcing the things that 1) I didn’t know how to do and 2) didn’t bring me joy in my business- if you are just starting out, you can start with small things!
6-Figure Strategy #5- I thought like a “business owner”
Rachel Lewis She Owns It Founder
I already know that you love what you do.

You know that you can make this thing work if you just keep going and keep the passion alive.

But you also need to think like a business owner.

In my first biz, we had the passion. Plenty of it in fact.

We were hell-bent on never working for other people. We knew that we had a good idea.

But we were all over the place.

We thought we could just make money online without support and without a plan.

And it kept us broke for years.

I am here to tell you that you ARE a business owner- you just need to start owning it!

Instead of hoping, start planning. Instead of being scared that it might not work, get excited that it will if you put the work in!

Action steps for becoming the business owner I know you are:
  • Ask for help! This is one of the biggest mistakes we made in our first biz- we tried to do it all ourselves. Even though I EVENTUALLY figured out the strategies for building a 6/7 figure biz, we would have done it a lot faster with support
  • Set goals- plan out the next 90 days instead of just hoping you will start making more money. In the She Owns It members club, we have planning sessions every quarter so we all stay on track and work on the things that will make money
  • Call yourself a business owner! It’s not a hobby, it’s not a dream- you’re in this and you’re determined to make it work so call it what it is!

I believe with my whole heart that you are capable of building a business that serves your dreams. If I can do it with years of imperfect action, I know that you can too!
Believing is the first step- then you can get strategic! I designed the Biz Road Map for women like you who are just starting out in their business (or struggling to hit 6-figures like I was!). In this guide, I give you the EXACT steps and questions you need to simplify your customer journey, dream big, and hit those income goals without the overwhelm.
