Let's face it, finding time for self care can be a challenge. I admit I am not good at this. Family- I prioritise. Work- I prioritise. But self care? Time to exercise? Hang out with my hubby without kids? See friends? Relax on my own? Seriously, I struggle.
If you're anything like me you don't want another year to roll by and feel like you haven't figured this out.
For me, it's not a 'skinny' thing or lack of confidence about how I look. I know I need to nuture me so I can be my best self- for myself and for everyone and everything around me.
But, the struggle is real!
So I called out to our community for some tips and as usual, they owned it. The collective wisdom of these women is just nuts and today I'm feeling more like I can do this- so thank you to everyone who supported me.
The 3 hacks that resonated with me
There was so much support and so many ideas on this thread you have to go and read for yourself, but today I wanted to share the 3 that really stood out to me:
THE I CAN CHOOSE MY OWN IDENTITY HACK

"According to James Clear (author of, Atomic Habits), habit change is really about identity change. So if you picture yourself as choosing to be this awesome, fit, healthy, mum with tonnes of energy, who fits in fun movement and exercise throughout your day with your kids at home, or just whenever/wherever it suits you (and in ways that you LOVE - enjoyment is key!!!) then that could be your NEW identity. The real thing is YOU get to choose it."
THE FIT IT IN AROUND JOBS HACK

"My work around, based on a suggestion from Dad, was to run home from preschool. The walk home usually took 12 minutes, so I would go a longer way and fit in my 25-30 minute run. So it only took 15 minutes out of my day, as I had to walk home anyway. So if you can fit it around something you are already doing, it's easier to make it a habit. Now I do it after I've dropped him off at school."
THE START SMALL WITH NO PRESSURE HACK

"A huge one for me is not pressuring myself to do to much. Even 10 minutes of intentional exercise per day can create the habit and motivation in my experience. Or before you get dressed in the morning perhaps do 10 squats 10 crutches 10 lunges then get dressed. Start small with no pressure."
